Terms of CHORAL

CRITERIA

The COFF3 is only open to non-professional choirs (competitive teams only).

MAXIMUM CHOICE OF CATEGORIES

All choirs are eligible to compete in more than one categories, but can only choose 1 (one) category from AGE category. For choirs competing in two categories, the repertoire for each category must be different.

SINGING DURATION

For all categories the allotted pure singing time limit is 8 and 10 minutes (depend on category). This time limit excludes the time incurred by applause or by stage entry/exit. Piece durations must be accurately submitted in the application form.

CHOREOGRAPHY

While choreography is allowed, only the music will be judged during the competition (Except Folklore Category).

PROHIBITION

Any use of unauthorized video or sound recording, MICROPHONE, amplification of voices or instruments other than the setup provided at the venues is strictly prohibited.

MUSIC SHEET

  1. Choirs must send the digital copies of scores in PDF format via Email by October 31, 2019, AND send 5 original copies of each performance piece to the COFF3 office address until November 20, 2019. Submitted original copies of scores will be used only for judging.
    • CHOIRS CAN BE PENALIZED FOR NOT SENDING THE 5 SET OF SCORES TO THE JCOFF OFFICE IN THE MAIL UNTIL November 20, 2019 (postmark deadline).

  2. After application is submitted, repertoire changes (including an order of performance) are allowed by November 20, 2019.
  3. All participating choirs are individually responsible for honoring copyright and performance rights of the songs during the competition. The use of unauthorized / reproduced copies is strictly prohibited.

STAGE REHEARSAL

Each participant could get time slot for stage rehearsal to check the sound artistic and stage blocking to find the best position for sound quality and visualization on performance.

SPECIAL JURY AWARD

The jury can award special prizes or allow participation in the special session if they deem a particular choir or conductor to deserve so

MEET THE JURIES

Every participants can send maximum 3 persons as representative to consult and receive advices directly from the experts as an evaluation to improve future performances. This session allows the Jury to provide valuable feedback, advice and tips for the conductors post-competition – a perfect platform for conductors and choirs to learn and improve.
